  Has anyone here used a cleaning service and what do you suggest?

  oh boy do i hate to ask this question, but due to not being able to bend down or lift right now my house is going to hell!

  the floors especially.. i hate dirty grout, and the kitchen is my biggest problem.

  have you hired a firm such as merry maids etc, to help you out temporarily?

  I clean houses/apts for extra money for us and I know from experience that many people have been dissapointed by them.

  You might want to check your local paper classifieds for individuals who are looking for work. This has a few advantages.

  a) You might be able to hire a person to come in and just do exactly what you need done, agreeing to a price before hand.

  b) You can check out their own personal/business references before having them in your home to clean.

  c) You would likely be able to be specific about which cleaning products you want used in your home and those you do not.

  REALLY Think about it before you post

  there is a lot of threads going back and forth both ways, almost like a battle line has been drawn between believers and atheists.

  however, let's just say for the sake of argument, that all religions including the witnesses, are wrong but the bible in itself is right.. everything that it has foretold is going to happen and just as god told noah, in 7 more days i am going to make it rain, but this time he now speaks to all of us and says in just 7 more days i will wipe the earth clean of all those who have or are revolting/disagree against me.. how would you react then?

  how would you live your next 7 days?

  Welllllll I hate to do this

  a) Who did he tell?

  b) How do we know the person he told is not insane?

  c) How do I know that it's God talking and not a demon?

  d) Since you say the bible is right but religion is wrong, then which interpretation is right? I.e. some people believe that the Bible is not meant to say that God hates homosexuality, so, should I believe it's wrong or perfectly ok?

  e) What would be considered a revolt?

  f) What if I'm For God, but am not a Bible believer? Does that count?

  g) How did we find out? I.e the guy that God told, how did he tell the rest of us?

  h) Am I going to hell or am I just getting annhilated?

  ....

  ok that's it for now...

  Now assuming that the person who told us is reliable (ya know not some grocery store aisle mag)(or Watchtower ) and that the idea is just to Believe ...I'm good to go...

  However, I need a better idea of what I have to do.

  Jehovah's Witnesses and Showing Off

  so i guess it's convention time again back in wisconsin or illinois or wherever the hell they drive nowadays.

  someone made me unfortunately have to remember this.

  so i got to thinking about the conventions and the showing off that took place there:.

  I think what I noticed about Conventions was this:

  Since JW's don't get to go to proms or class reunions, basically fun and special occasions unless it is a wedding, conventions and assemblies make up for that.

  So in comes the new hair dos, the new dresses or suits. It's the time that people can have mini reunions with people that they haven't seen in ages.

  Are they showing off? I'm sure some are. But some are just enjoying whatever they can get out of life.

  Are Jw's trained to be just plain mean spirited?

  not long ago, i would have defended them slightly with opinions about those 'under mind control' etc.

  but the further i get from jw think, the more i believe that jw's are just plain mean and hateful asses!

  two situations that i relate in my life.. 1- an elder i know works in a grocery store.

  I really think that the organization attracts those who like mean spirited thinking. They like a God who slaughters billions so they can live. They like an organization that expells people for acting like sinners act. They enjoy calling people who reject their 'truth', 'goats'. They lap up comments from others that tear down instead of building up.

  Yep.

  The JW religion is an exclusive club. An elitist group.

  It attracts people who looks at others and picks apart their weaknesses. And it's a very hard habit to break. I have found that I can still really fall into that.

  When people pick apart the weaknesses of others, it keeps us from focusing on our faults and weaknesses and we can really start believing that we are really all that, when we aren't.

  last night, a small group ( about 8 ) of teenagers gathered to go watch the meteor showers.

  a young man, known to all, drove up, asking what was going on.

  they told him they were talking about where was the best place to go watch.

  Here's a story from a couple of years ago. If anyone ever has any doubt what to do when someone is drunk and trying to drive, drive them home take the keys or do whatever you have to do to keep them from driving.

  United Insurance Group in Michigan..Entirely run by witnesses...

  theres a large national insurance agency in milford, mi.

  called united insurance group who my friend works for.

  he says the place only hires witnesses for their fulltime positions at the home office.. pat patterson, who runs it, is very wealthy.

  Yeah! From what I heard he came back as his old character Noah Drake. I haven't watched GH in a number of months but the girl I went with last night caught me up on the details!
